Volunteers

We are a registered charity and constantly need volunteers to help ensure the service we provide to the elderly and disabled within their community continues.

Drivers

If you are a car driver and have a few hours to spare and would like to help our charity in your local area we would be pleased to hear from you.
Volunteer drivers use their own car to provide transport to take the passengers to various destinations within their locality. Journeys tend to be to doctors, dentists, hairdressers medical appointments etc.

A payment of 45p per mile for every mile travelled is paid to cover your car expenses. There are no tax implications, the 45p is authorised by the Inland Revenue as expenses and there is no need to advise them of the amount you receive. We have an insurance policy in force to cover your no claims bonus and excess payment in the event of any accidents while driving for our organisation.

Your insurance company will need to be informed that you are using your car for voluntary work but we have all the necessary forms in our office.

We will also have to complete a police record check.

Office Staff

We also need volunteers to help us staff the office which is based in Douro Court, Ivybridge This will involve answering the telephone and recording the various booking. You will also be able to use a computer
If you can spare only one morning a week it will help ensure the office runs efficiently and ensures these elderly people obtain the transport they require.

You would be helping elderly, disabled and people who are isolated within your own village to maintain their independence and live as normal life as possible and you would be helping provide a local service to your village or town

Please contact the co-ordinator on 01752 690444 for any further information
